Due to licensing on the vocals this is our label’s (Lung Filler Records) first creative commons release. The EP features the original track ‘Pride’ produced by UK Techno producer Bayleigh, accompanying the original are remixes from Paul D Lewis, P-Styles and Monktec. The Mumbai EP will be the seventh release for DivKid’s own label Lung FIller Records. In keeping with the labels ethos and previous releases, the EP is a genre spanning affair; crossing Electro, Dubstep, Tech House and Progressive. The Mumbai EP features Original mix and Radio edit followed by remixes from KANEDUBSTEP, Mark Kane, Subtrakill and Reverend Pariah.
The original mix starts with a DJ friendly introduction, showcasing percussive elements and a fierce clap before dropping the growling bassline. Pitch bends and drum stutters follow to introduce new harmonies and distorted chords before the Eastern flavoured melody takes over. The mid section features crazy bends, stutters, wobbles and key changes before the track kicks back into the main melody and menacing bassline.
Although starting with filtered elements rising and introducing parts of the original track, make no mistake that this track is big and filthy. Working from the original synths and basslines, the track’s huge drums pound through the mix before the eastern melody drives the track into the main section. The track is smattered with filthy, grungy basses and synths. The top end percussion is tight and intricate while the wobbles and growls move on top. The melody is re-introduced in a new format with new phrases and lead lines before the heavily automated synths take over again.
Mark Kane Remix
Mark’s remix sets a groove and vibe from the off. The percussion develops and flows perfectly as the vocal like tones introduce new phrases into the mix. The deep bass is sure to get dancefloors moving, as the new percussive synth melodies introduce an uncertain and almost dark atmosphere to the track.
Subtrakill takes a more progressive approach to the track, while retaining his own electro/progressive influenced sound. The track features strong percussion and a bass that pushes through the track, while a resonant synth hook takes the forefront of the mix. The track introduces new spacious melodies before using the original melody in the breakdown.
Reverend Pariah Remix
Pariah keeps the track firmly within the electro genre of the original track but, brings a whole new style of filth to the mix. The track stutters and bends across a new dirty bassline and counter resonant synth line. Crazy drum fills and glitches ensure the track never stays on one thing for too long. As the original eastern flavoured melody takes over in the breakdown, a metal style tom rhythm is introduced, which almost sounds like a drum solo pulsing through the main elements of the track. Definitely one for the people wanting some real dirty electro and filth.
