Press Release
Tailwhip will be the 12th release for DivKid’s own independent record label ‘Lung Filler Records’. As a whole, the EP fits firmly into the heavier/filthier side of dance music. The original is a heavy electro track that. A range of remixes accompany the release branching out the sounds and styles into progressive and dubstep.
Original The original track starts with a hardened kick and clap (which is getting recognised as a staple of the DivKid sound). The track hints at the chords and harmony of the track with filtered synths, before entering the first break. Releasing all tension; the break bursts into the chord progression and classically influenced arpeggio. Dropping into a relentless pitch-bent bassline and groove, the track works its way through the ever changing arrangement, before settling on the main chords again. The track slams back in like a donkey punch from the Hulk, with huge harmonised bass hits and orchestrated synth runs. The track breaks back into the earlier elements of the arrangement before settling into a DJ friendly outro.
There is also a radio edited version more suited to home listening where a DJ friendly intro and outro isn’t required.
Alex Mind Remix Alex starts the track with his trademark electro drum sound and is quick to introduce the main harmony featured in the track. The unsettling feeling throughout the track is caused by his modulating synth stutters. He Introduces the main chords early on, which gives the track a ‘progressive’ like feel. The tension is released with a carefully crafted, jaw dropping break of madness, This consists of cleverly cut up parts of the original, mixed brilliantly with his own array of samples, basslines and sound effects. The track calms down into dreamy plucked synths, lush pads and reverbs The chords and pads speed up and slow down taking the listener on a short euphoric trip, before firing into the electro filth that precedes it.
M-Force Remix M-Force start the track with the original arpeggio and plucked synths, while the thick dubstep drums build throughout the intro. Old school drum breaks build intensity throughout the break, before a short gap leads into the drop. The Sub bass hits and dubby sounds work over the beat which comes as an unexpected twist. The track progresses into new rave synth sounds and lead runs and riffs from the original track. An atmospheric piano and echoing synths take the track through the main breakdown, then builds back up into the peak of the track, which introduces more synth hits and sub wobbles from the first drop.
David Menezes Remix David Menezes works heavily from the original sounds, while adding his own trademark cut up electro samples and stutters. The track builds up through electro drum sounds and the original chords, before dropping into the first break, which introduces the the main themes within the track. After the break, the track drops into fat electro sounds, proving that it is definitely a dancefloor-destroying track. A tough arrangement lets out into an almost uplifting breakdown, which builds in intensity throughout. The Peak of the track is based on an aggressive pitch-bent bass and cut up hits that work back into the main chords. The track works it way down into the DJ friendly outro.

“this is orgasmic … heavy!”
“this is some top notch dubstep, a cut above the rest”
KANEDUBSTEP’S Debut EP on Lung Filler Records is the first dedicated dubstep release on the label. KANEDUBSTEP has created a moving and dynamic EP, that has more substance, articulation emotion than your average dubstep EP. The build ups are great and the drops are greater.
Always Will (The Psychotic Murmur) -
The track starts with lo-fi drums, glitches and spoken word. It all sits ominously on a bed of textures and reverbs. Some drums merge into the foreground whilst others fade into the background. The background textures steadily increase in volume and density, until they take over and become the anchor point of tension. This tension is immense, but not grand as the the heavy drums and bass line drop. The second drop is even bigger, with complex hi hat patterns and ever morphing bass textures.
Seizure -
Seizure opens with a combination of Asian flavoured percussion, a cold feedback loop and mournful drones and pads. The vocal is sinister yet vulnerable. The build ups and drops in this track are of a of a smaller dynamic range, giving the the EP a more accommodating listening experience.
Sinensis -
Sinensis starts with industrial style sound design. The track gets straight to the point and has his fist huge drop a mere 56 seconds into the track. From there on, it’s relentless and ever changing bassline pounds through, coupled with aggressively intertwined drums and sound design. the track has a small break and then gets track back into the brutal and complex work of the bassline and drum patterns.
Darksky VIP -
Darrksky starts with a beautiful, delicate and moving string section, accompanied by dark and poignant piano melodies. The drums that accompany this are fast paced with an advancing beat, which give the track huge amounts of energy. All this sits perfectly on it’s own bed of lush reverbs and delays. Small amounts of glitches, white noises, beat repeats and other sound effects become more apparent until the huge drop of the heavy drums and bass. The bass spans huge frequencies and is very powerful. Both sections of the track are entirely different in terms of articulation and treatment. However no two sections work more perfectly.
